Goomy is not the only Pokemon that resembles a pile of sludge, if that aids in relieving your suspicion.

And to be blunt, yes. And it's going to continue to do so until it's been trained. That's your job, as a trainer, if you decide to bother with it.

If you're that dissatisfied with what you have, go catch something else. I can't promise you it will be any easier to train, but maybe you'll find something more...aesthetically pleasing.
